Architectural Technician – Lexington  KY Office

Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects is seeking a self-motivated, talented Architectural Technician. The ideal candidate will have earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture and have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience with Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD. Additional requirements include:

  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Architecture is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and rendering software such as Sketchup, Lumion, and Twinmotion.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator graphic software is not required but is beneficial.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to stay on task and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic architectural environment.

 

The day-to-day expectations include:

  • Collaborate with the design team to generate and develop design ideas.
  • Produce design and construction documents, presentation drawings, graphic design work, and digital models using AutoCAD Architecture, AutoDesk Revit, Civil 3D, Carlson Software, SketchUp, Lumion, Twinmotion, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Work with team members from concept through construction administration.
  • May attend field site inspections to provide field measurements, which frequently involve a physical site walk-through.
  • Attends and actively participates in project team meetings.
  • Is self-directed, takes initiative, and seeks thoughtful solutions for design execution.
  • Demonstrates motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Architecture Student Internship/Co-op

What you will do and learn:

As a Student Intern, you will undertake a variety of assignments throughout the development of a project, including but not limited to:

  • Rendering to Reality: Work with our team to transform a projects’ vision into a built environment. Learning about bringing ideas into reality.
  • Design & Drawing: Collaborate with architects and studio team members to create detailed architectural drawings, presentation drawings, graphic design work, digital models and 3D models using AutoCAD Architecture, Autodesk Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Twinmotion, and Adobe Photoshop
  • Documentation: Assist in the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and project reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers to coordinate tasks and schedules to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Continual Learning: Learn to use industry-standard software and best practices to enhance your skills.

Key Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor/Master’s degree in Architecture.

  • Working knowledge of design, trends, and construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in Building Information Modeling {BIM).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
