Architect
Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, talented Architect.
Qualified applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
- State of Kentucky Architectural License or near completion of ARE
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of architectural experience
- Ability to design, develop contract documents, and perform construction administration
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to facilitate meetings with the clients, project staff, and consultant coordination
- The ability to utilize computer systems to effectively manage projects. Required computer skills: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe, and MS Office
Architect/Project Manager

Construction Administrator
We are seeking a talented individual with a deep passion for architecture and construction. Our ideal candidate should have experience with all construction types and sizes, allowing them to handle any project that comes their way.
Our Construction Administrator should have exceptional organizational skills, being able to effortlessly handle multiple projects simultaneously. A strong ability to manage multiple clients and people sets them apart, as they excel in building strong relationships and providing excellent customer service.
They should have a keen eye for detail and the ability to read and interpret contract documents, contracts, contractors’ construction schedules, schedules of values, and other construction administration documents. They need excellent communication skills to enable them to effectively convey complex information and ensure clear and concise communication with all stakeholders. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office is needed for to efficiently handle administrative tasks and generate detailed reports.
Our Construction Administrator thrives in an unsupervised environment, taking ownership of their responsibilities and consistently delivering exceptional results.
This position will require the following skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attention to detail. Detailed-oriented to ensure the work in the field is accurate and follows the contract documents. The ability to write accurate reports indicating the status of the project.
- The ability to listen and solve conflicts in the field with diplomacy.
- The ability to facilitate meetings with clients, contractors, and the design team.
- Experience with all construction types and sizes (preferred but not required).
- The ability to manage multiple projects.
- The ability to read and interpret contract documents, contracts, contractors’ construction schedule, and schedule of values.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage a schedule.
Tasks in this position include (but are not limited to):
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, change orders, field orders and directives, shop drawings, construction schedules, meeting minutes, project correspondence, and other project-related information for the purpose of being familiar with the work to be accomplished by the contractor.
- Review shop drawings and other submittals made by the contractor for compliance with the contract documents. After review, submit to the architect with comments prior to issuance to the contractor.
- Monitor the contractor’s construction schedule on an ongoing basis. Notify the architect of any conditions that may lead to delays in the schedule.
- Review the contractor’s record drawings for accuracy and timeliness. report status at every progress meeting before approval of the application for payment.
- Provide a field report stating the progress and quality of the work to determine if materials, equipment, and installation are in compliance with the contract documents.
- Identify, document, and report all deficiencies in the work.
- Review the contractor’s payment requests and forward recommendations to the architect.
- Compiling of punch lists or other such documents specifically directed by the Architect.
- Conduct regularly scheduled site visits. Determine substantial completion and final completion.
- Conduct all construction-related project progress meetings.
- Record, write, compile, and distribute meeting minutes, field reports, and any other Project correspondence.
- Provide photographs of construction activities and any noted deficiencies. Submit photos to the Architect.
