Andrew Owens, AIA, KYCID

Associate Principal

Andrew began his architectural career as an educator, serving for one year as a lecturer for his alma mater, the University of Kentucky College of Design. His involvement and support of the College continues, as he regularly serves as a volunteer Design Review Panelist and, in 2011, co-founded the Ken Greene Architecture Scholarship Foundation, one of the largest endowed scholarships at the College of Design.

Andrew joined Sherman Carter Barnhart in 2014 and jumped right in, participating in the firm’s back-to-back winning teams at the AIA EKC’s Design Slam competition benefiting Habitat for Humanity. The projects on which Andrew works reflect his commitment to community – focused on schools and churches, he is passionate about projects that make lasting impacts in their communities.

In 2015, Andrew was awarded the AIA Emerging Professional Award and is a 2017/2018 graduate of Leadership Lexington.

Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys traveling with his wife and son. He is actively involved in Redwood Cooperative School, currently serving his second term as President of the Board of Directors.  An avid musician, Andrew plays several instruments and is a founding member of Cantabile Vocal Ensemble, a Central Kentucky acapella vocal ensemble.
