University of Kentucky engages Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects with SmithGroup to transform White Hall Classroom Building, an iconic campus site.
The new Clinton County Judicial Center is set to be situated two blocks north of the current courthouse square in downtown Albany. At approximately 31,000 SF over two stories, the new Judicial Center will act as a new urban gateway, to the downtown district.
The exterior features brick with limestone trim elements, with traditional design elements such as corner pilasters and an entry with two-story stone columns. The Judicial Center also features a cupola with a functional exposed bell, and a sloped pre-finished metal roof to complete the traditional design.
Inside, a grand staircase leads to an interior balcony and public waiting area with ample natural light provided by generous windows to the exterior. The interior will also feature stained hardwood millwork throughout, along with terrazzo floors and stone tile wainscoting in the public areas.
