The City of Madisonville and Hopkins County Sportsplex represent the realization of a 15-plus-year dream of the community it serves. A collaborative initiative between the City of Madisonville and the Hopkins County Fiscal Court, the facility anchors an exciting new development in the heart of Hopkins County, Midtown Commons.
The nearly 90,000 SF facility provides 6 competition basketball courts, 12 competition volleyball courts, pickleball courts, 6 futsal courts, a fixed pitching/batting cage, and an indoor turf soccer field. The sports fields and courts are complemented by a concessions counter with a commercial kitchen. The sportplex also features party rooms, a large common concourse, and support spaces. The building anchors a multi-acre site with rough grading prepared for three future football/soccer fields. Onsite parking accommodates 400 spaces, including space for large vehicles, with overflow parking opportunities at nearby sites.
With completion anticipated in the spring of 2024, the Madisonville/Hopkins County Sportsplex stands to become an instant regional tournament destination and support the growth of its community for years to come.
The building structure is a pre-engineered metal building. The exterior highlights its common spaces, with stone walls surrounding a central glass entrance. Wood-finished metal panels invite competitors and supporters to the expansive circulation and gathering area, housed in the spine between hardwood courts and turf field. Parking includes areas for large vehicles and food trucks, providing ample possibilities for the facility’s operation on its greater site. Visible from the nearby interstate, the exterior serves as a visual anchor for the surrounding development.
