University of Kentucky engages Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects with SmithGroup to transform White Hall Classroom Building, an iconic campus site.
Highly customizede and electronically integrated with video monitors, the North Study is clad from floor to ceiling with high tech, modular DIRTT wall systems that makes every wall a writing surface.
Under the firm’s master agreement with the University of Kentucky, Sherman Carter Barnhart designed this 8,400 SF study area is a flexible and collaborative technologically advanced space, purposefully student-centered to foster interactions that promote learning and attitudes towards academics.
The North Study, located on the first floor of Jewell Hall, is clad from floor to ceiling with a high tech, modular DIRTT wall system that makes every wall a writing surface. The system is highly customized and electronically integrated with video monitors that allow students to plug directly into to use when developing presentations. Collaborative spaces allow students to work in groups, and maker spaces create the opportunity for students to create and learn.
The North Study is on a raised DIRTT floor system which also allows for flexibility with power and data connections for smart furniture.
