Project Details

The final phase of the campus transformation is the addition of the Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) to the Boyd County High Schools, a cutting-edge facility designed to prepare students for high-demand careers through immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Seamlessly integrated into the existing high school, the CTEC is connected across both floors, ensuring smooth student and faculty movement between buildings.

The exterior design of the CTEC mirrors the high school’s architectural elements, featuring a cast stone wainscot, face brick accents, and a deep fiber-reinforced polymer cornice that reflects the high school’s proportions. A striking half-round portico and glass storefront entry welcome students into a bright and spacious vestibule filled with natural light.

Internally, the CTEC is a hub of career-driven education, designed with flexible learning spaces tailored to specialized programs. The ground floor supports trades and technical disciplines, including:

  • Welding, Carpentry, Automotive Technology, and Agriculture
  • A two-story Agriculture lab with overhead doors for large-scale projects
  • A Greenhouse and Headhouse adjacent to the Agriculture program
  • A Business pathway featuring a fully functional retail store for hands-on merchandising experience

On the second floor, students have access to cutting-edge facilities for Health Sciences, Early Childhood Education, and Information Technology. The Health Sciences program features advanced medical training equipment, while the IT labs include a full-scale mock-up wiring and data wall to simulate real-world technical challenges.
