Joe Craft Basketball Training Center
“The practice facility and offices at Kentucky are amazing. I cannot believe what they have available there.” Dick Vitale, ESPN Analyst
The Joe Craft Basketball Center is a state-of-the-art athletic training and practice facility offering 24-hour access for both men’s and women’s basketball players. It also houses many administrative and UK Athletics staff offices.
The lower level features a practice court, locker room, video room and lounge for each program, as well as a large weight room and training room utilized by both programs. The two gymnasiums, vertically, create a full-length NCAA regulation court. Horizontally, there are three full-length high school courts perpendicular to the main one. This allows room for players to shoot at the side goals while the main practice rolls on.
The main level includes the men’s and women’s basketball offices, the K Fund department and the ticket office. The upper level, includes the athletics director’s office, compliance, media relations, marketing, publications and business offices.
The design solution also integrated the University of Kentucky’s existing off-campus Basketball Museum into the lobbies and halls throughout the facility. These exhibits and memorabilia further aid in the school’s recruiting efforts by depicting the long-standing tradition and success of the basketball program. Furthermore, by incorporating the museum into the lobbies and halls, it maximized the programs exposure without the need for additional program space.
