Green River College & Career Center
Through a strong partnership between Hart County Schools, Caverna Independent Schools, local government, and postsecondary institutions, the new Green River College & Career Academy will meet the needs of the community and will serve as an authentic problem-based personalized learning center for K-12 students and adults.
With the goal of creating a local facility to allow all students an opportunity to participate in college, career, and technical training, Sherman Carter Barnhart throughout programming sessions, worked closely with local businesses, as well as Hart County and Caverna Independent administrators to design the facility to reflect the certifications that would be offered to each student.
The design solution focuses on flexible and adaptable spaces for cross-disciplinary collaboration, as well as presentation/demonstration classrooms to be used by industry professionals and postsecondary institutions to teach and train students providing specialized training. The Center will have the ability to meet the current training needs of many of the region’s job sectors, yet have the capabilities to grow and expand to meet the future needs of the region’s workforce.
High bay labs, allow students to experience “real world” working conditions for all trades, and provides excellent space for storage of materials for welding, auto repair, construction lumber, etc.
