Meade County High School Athletic Complex, Brandenburg
The Meade County High School Athletics Complex Renovation completely transformed and updated the existing home to the athletic programs at Meade County High School. The existing six-lane track, which had fallen into a state of disrepair due to complex drainage and geological conditions, has been replaced with a new eight-lane track with a synthetic sports surface.
Additionally, track and field event venues have been updated to include new discus and shot-put pads as well as long jump runways with pits all complying with the National Federation of State High School Association requirements. These improvements benefit the track and field athletes of MCHS, as well as allow the district to host regional track and field events for the first time in years.
The existing natural grass football field was replaced with a new synthetic surface striped for football and soccer allowing boys and girls soccer games on campus for the first time. New football goal posts and soccer goals were also installed. These improvements to the stadium will also allow the district to host band competitions.
The fan experience has also been improved with the renovation. ADA access to the low lying field level has now been provided with new handicapped-accessible walkways. Additionally, new visitor bleachers have been added to provide approximately 460 visitor seats and a new pep band/student section beyond the east end zone has been added to accommodate 200 students. The home side bleachers, which were expanded in previous phases, has been modified to add additional egress capacity and a brand new state of the art sound system has been added.
